Mic City Sons was formed in Boston, Massachusetts in 2012. The band's debut release, The December EP, came out that same year.

After a long pause, Mic City Sons returned in 2024 with Redemption, an 11 song LP written and recorded entirely by founding member James Topping.

Now based in Melbourne, Australia, MCS releases its second album, Devils Dance, on 18 September 2026. The lead single "Leaving You" is out now, with the title track to follow on 4 September.

James writes, records and produces everything himself, working with a rotating cast of players. The sound is urgent, guitar and synth driven alt rock with a dirtier blues edge.
